RTE Karnataka 2024-25 is a process in which the Government of Karnataka reserves a certain percentage of seats in government, government-aided schools as well as private schools under the RTE Act. The RTE Act describes the modalities of the importance of free and compulsory education for children between the ages of 3 years to 5 months and 14 years in India under Article 21A of the Indian Constitution. The Karnataka Public Education Department has issued a notification regarding admissions to educational institutions through the Right to Education Act (RTE) 2009. Parents who want to enroll their children in government-aided, and private schools from classes 1 to 8 under the RTE Act can now apply. The age for admission of children in primary classes is also prescribed as part of the admission process in government, private, and aided primary schools under the Right to Education Act. Children seeking admission in LKG should be at least 4 years of age, children seeking admission in Class 1 should be a minimum of 5 years 5 months, and a maximum of 7 years.

Eligibility Criteria for RTE Karnataka Admission

  • The student must be a permanent resident of Karnataka state.
  • For admission to LKG, the age of the student should be between 3 years and 5 months to 5 years.
  • For children entering first class, the date of birth should be between 1 June 2016 and 1 August 2018 (5 years 5 months to 7 years)
  • The annual income of the family should not exceed Rs 3.5 lakh.
  • Children who are orphans, HIV-affected or infected children, transgender children, children with special needs, migrant and street children, children of farmers, and children who have committed suicide are given priority.
