TSRTC MD VC Sajjanar said, women passengers have given an unprecedented response to Telangana’s free bus travel initiative, which is part of the Maha Lakshmi programme. Applicants must present a valid form of identification to be eligible for this program. To avoid paying for any tickets on buses, TSRTC staff will ask women to present their basic Aadhaar, voter ID card, driver’s license, or any other card issued by the federal or state governments. The MD has announced that, in response to the increasing crowding, the TSRTC administration has opted to add 2050 new buses to the fleet. He said that new buses will be operated for the next four to five months. Around 1000 electrical buses and 1050 diesel buses will also be launched. Photocopy displayed on smartphone will not be accepted for free travel.
