The Government of Maharashtra has launched a new scheme called Babasaheb Ambedkar Jeevan Prakash Yojana, Through this scheme government will provide electricity connection to scheduled caste and scheduled tribe applicants. The electricity connection will be provided to SC and ST applicants on a priority basis from MSEDCL. In order to avail of benefits from this scheme, all the beneficiaries have to pay a total deposit of RS 500 to MSEDCL for electricity connection. Beneficiaries also have the option to pay this amount in five Installments. The process for home electricity connection will start soon after MSEDCL receives a complete application with proper documents. Applicants can apply under this scheme via online and offline modes.

Availability of Electrical Infrastructure
After the application is approved, if electricity infrastructure is available then beneficiaries will get an electricity connection in the next 15 working days. In areas where electricity infrastructure is not available, MSEDCL will construct a power connection and for that infrastructure will be provided by MSEDCL from Swanidhi or District planning committee funds or agricultural contingency funds, or other available funds. After that, beneficiaries will be provided with an electricity connection. To get benefits of this scheme, there should be no previous areas of electricity bills at the place of application for connection. The applicant has to attach the test report of the power layout along with the application. This power layout report should be made by the approved electrical contractor.
