By 2022, the construction sector in India is anticipated to be the largest employer. More than 7.5 crore people work there. A skilled labor shortage afflicts the industry. In the next ten years, the real estate and construction industries alone will need an additional 45 million qualified workers. A formal education and skill culture must emerge in this sector. There is an urgent need for skill development in the building and construction sector given its rapid growth, keeping in mind the requirement to boost workers’ productivity and skill-based income.
Over one lakh workers have been hired as members of the Skill Development Corporation by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) through a network of Industry Partners in Plumbing, Infrastructure Equipment, and Construction, such as the Construction Sector and Sector Skill Council (SSC). National Project NIPUN has also been launched by NSDC to provide skill-transfer services. NIPUN Yojana Eligibility Criteria
These requirements are for applicants seeking skill upskilling or recognition of prior learning (RPL).
- The applicant must be between the age group of 18 and 45.
- The candidate must have an Aadhar card-linked bank account.
- RPL certification is preferred and required by the Sector Skill Council for specific job roles, so applicants with prior experience in the job role are encouraged to apply.
