LAccMI Scheme:- The Odisha government has announced the launch of a new scheme called Location Accessible Multimodal Initiative (LAccMI) aimed at enhancing communication in rural areas of the state. The scheme is set to be inaugurated on August 15, Independence Day. Initially, it will be implemented in the undivided Koraput, Gajapati, and Kalahandi districts. Under the LAccMI scheme, the government plans to provide bus communication services from each gram panchayat to the block headquarters. In later stages, the scheme will also include communication through boats and other means of transport. The state government will deploy two buses in each block, with a total of 55 bus stands already constructed, and plans to build 70 more.

The Implementation of the scheme will be facilitated by the Odisha State Road Transport Corporation (OSRTC). To manage the bus stands, women self-help groups (SHGs) under the Mission Shakti department will be involved. The members of the SHGs will receive training from OSRTC for this purpose.

Very recently the Chief Minister Mr. Naveen Patnaik visited the Malkangiri District. Heofficially started 36 buses under the scheme in the district which will help to connect all the 111 Gram Panchayats with the district headquarters and the state capital. As we all know that the chief minister always work for the remote areas of the state, in this regard the Chief Minister on Thursday launched the affordable bus service under the Location Accessible Multimodal Initiative (LAccMI) scheme in Malkangiri. The budget of the scheme is estimated worth rupees 793 crore.

As per reports the state government will operate at least 1,000 buses in the rural areas with an allocate budget of rupees 3,178 crore under this scheme. The bus service will start from the rural areas of six Tribal-dominated and inaccessible districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Kalahandi, and Gajapati. The busses will connect the panchayats to block headquarters and block headquarters to district headquarters. These busses will also serve from Bonda Ghati which is a home to PVTG (particularly vulnerable tribal group) people in Malkangiri district.
